Thanks for visiting. As a super busy working woman myself, I appreciate the time you took to read my blog. I hope you found some really interesting tips and ideas on how to develop your business or career. Maybe you found a really yummy recipe you want to try on your next date night, please share it here! Or tell me about some books to read when I have some downtime (if ever!).
So that you have some confidence that I know what I’m talking about, a little about me – I started my bookkeeping business 6 years ago after my Mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. It made me think about my priorities and what I really valued in life. I wanted to have more time to spend with Mum but I also had a mortgage and bills that needed to be paid. On top of that, my then employer wasn’t very open to me taking time off. On the contrary. I turned out to be pretty good at my job that they wanted me to work more days than the part-time arrangement I had. At the end of the day, it just wasn’t where I wanted to be and I was very unhappy.
I’ve never been one to sit and feel sorry for myself so I started to think about what I was good at and how I could use those skills to build a business of my own. I identified a gap in the bookkeeping industry and struck out on my own. I picked up a couple of small clients in early 2010 and by April of that year, I resigned from my job and worked on my business full time. I haven’t looked back since (well, maybe once or twice…).
Fast forward to today, I am now running a business with a 6 figure turnover, employing 2 staff and still growing. No question that there have been some extremely difficult times, but after 6 years, I wouldn’t change a thing.
I write this blog to now help other entrepreneurial women like myself to make the most of their chosen careers.
Here’s to your success!
